REQUIREMENTS BackStage runs on personal computers under all editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. No increased RAM configuration is necessary. However, like all programs, it will run faster with more RAM. A Broadband internet connection is also necessary.
Essential software components
The Microsoft .net framework v2.0 or higher must be installed. This is installed by default on new computers and is otherwise a free download from the Microsoft corporation. The download process automatically checks whether your computer has this installed and, if not, directs you to the relevant download location on the Microsoft website. You must have administrator privileges to install the .net framework.
BackStage does not need administrator privileges to be installed or run and should be downloaded and installed when logged onto your computer from the user account you normally work from. (The user accounts are the little square icons that you click on when you first start your computer if more than one person uses your computer. Take advice if this is not clearly understood.) BackStage is only visible in the user account that it was installed in and can not be run from other user accounts on the same machine. By the same token, BackStage can be installed on more than one user account on the same machine and it's data will be kept separate allowing one user to run more than one instance of BackStage if they should want to populate more than one address book and default settings separately. However, more than one instance of BackStage requires more than one download fee! (NB running multiple instances of BackStage is not what is meant by upgrading to BackStage multi-user. BackStage multi-user allows multiple people to run from the same instance of BackStage and share and edit the same data using different computers.)
DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION After we receive your order for BackStage, we will set up the web components for your account and notify you when this is done. We aim to do this within 1 working day of receiving your order. You will be notified by email of the download location and sent a customer key and instructions about downloading. Installation is automatic after downloading and will take you straight to the registration page of BackStage. It is not possible to use BackStage without registering the product since registration links your copy of BackStage with your BackStage WebPages. In order to register, you need to enter your customer key together with your email address and your account password. Your password can be changed at any time. Your password and email address will also log you onto your BackStage WebPages. After you have successfully registered BackStage, BackStage just needs to be set up before you can use it.
UPGRADES BackStage automatically checks for the latest version each time it loads from the Start menu provided an internet connection is present. If an update is available, you are asked whether you wish to allow it to load. We strongly recommend that you always run the latest version of BackStage. All updates are free and automatically downloaded and installed from the web.
