INSTRUMENTS PAGE

Overview
The Instruments page is used to set the instrumentation of the selected repertoire for the PROJECT. The repertoire used in any PROJECT is a copy of the repertoire chosen from the BackStage database that can be added to by selecting the ADD/EDIT | REPERTOIRE menu item. Any alterations to the repertoire details or instrumentation only apply to this PROJECT and don't effect the main database. The user can select one of two tags for any selected repertoire:
- PROGRAM DETAILS TAG:- For editing program details for display and search.
- INSTRUMENTATION TAG:- For editing the instrumentation of the selected repertoire.
Summary of numbered items
- REPERTOIRE DROPDOWN LIST: Select which piece of repertoire to edit from all the repertoire chosen for this PROJECT.
- PRINT AS TEXTBOX: Alter the printed title for the repertoire if different to the title in the main BackStage database.
- SOLO INSTRUMENTS LISTBOX: Alter the solo instruments for selected repertoire if different from solo instruments listed in main BackStage database.
- DURATION (automatically generated): Displays the length of the piece by totalling the length of each movement.
- MOVEMENTS LABEL: Set the number of movements and their duration (if different to main BackStage database.)
- COMMENTS LABEL: Add comments if necessary that can be displayed on the printed contracts and schedule.
- INSTRUMENTATION TAG: For setting instrumentation of selected repertoire. (See below)

- SECTION: Select section to edit from dropdown list.
- NOT REQUIRED LISTBOX: Displays the players not required for this repertoire. By default these are the excess players from the back of the section if you have elected to play the selected repertoire with less players than the overall section size for the PROJECT (see dropdown list 'i'). Players can be dragged from the NOT REQUIRED listbox to the REQUIRED listbox allowing any players to be chosen for the selected repertoire.
- YELLOW ARROWS: The presence of yellow arrows anywhere in BackStage signifies that drag and drop can be applied in the directions of the arrows.
- POSITION LISTBOX: Shows the chair position of the required players for the selected repertoire.
- REQUIRED LISTBOX: Displays the players that are required for this repertoire. The chair positions for the required players can be altered by dragging and dropping them into any chair position.
- EDIT BUTTON: Becomes enabled when a particular player from the REQUIRED listbox is selected and allows the instruments that that player plays to be altered from what ever has be specified in the BackStage database.
- INSTRUMENTS LISTBOX: Displays the instruments required by the required players.
- TOTAL (OVERALL) DROPDOWN LIST: Allows user to alter number of players for this section for the whole PROJECT. This would need to be done if you wanted a particular piece of repertoire to be played with more players than currently set for the PROJECT or else if you wished all pieces of repertoire in entire PROJECT to play with less players. By default, the section size is set by whatever has been set in the BackStage database for selected repertoire. The section sizes within the BackStage database can be altered for all repertoire by selecting the DEFAULTS | DEFAULT STRING STRENGTHS menu item or else for the selected piece by selecting the ADD/EDIT | REPERTOIRE menu item. If overall section sizes are altered, all player chair positions revert back to their default positions for all repertoire on the PROJECT for selected section.
- TOTAL (REPERTOIRE) DROPDOWN LIST: Allows user to alter the number of players on this repertoire only. Players are automatically moved between the REQUIRED and NOT REQUIRED listboxes as necessary. If repertoire section sizes are altered, all player chair positions revert back to their default positions for selected section.
- ADD SECTION BUTTON: Used if user wishes to add a new section not specified in the BackStage database for this repertoire. Sections can be added to the BackStage database by selecting the ADD/EDIT | SECTION NAMES menu item.
- INSTRUMENTATION STRING (automatically generated): Shows the instrumentation currently used for this repertoire allowing user at a glance to see which sections need editing.
- REPERTOIRE DROPDOWN LISTBOX: Displays selected repertoire that is being edited.
