2434.com is primarily concerned with the development, distribution and support of BackStage, an extensible software solution for administering orchestras of all types and sizes whether professional or amateur, free-lance or contract. We also provide complete websites for orchestras and data input services.
BackStage
BackStage runs on the office or home PC in both single and multi-user management environments. An internet connection is not necessary to use BackStage but when one is available it automatically checks for updates and synchronises it's data with other users and backs-up to our web servers. BackStage can broadly be divided into four components:-
- A Desktop component for administering all aspects of the booking and scheduling of musicians for concerts, rehearsals and the like that runs on personal computers under current versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. The desktop component can be downloaded in one of three versions:
- BackStage Lite: For amateur or training orchestras. BackStage Lite has all the functionality of other editions except lacks the ability to set payments against groups of players in one go based on rank or other criteria or to print contracts. However you can set payments to players individually. BackStage Lite allows all schedule details of a single PROJECT to be viewed on the internet at any one time.
- BackStage Professional: For all types of professional orchestra and fixers. BackStage Professional has the ability to set payments against groups of players in one go and to print contracts and allows all schedule details of three PROJECTs to be viewed on the internet at any one time.
- BackStage Enterprise: Combines the power of BackStage Professional with web-based reporting and planning tools to provide orchestras with a fully customised solution to fulfill their specific requirements. Includes all schedule details of all PROJECTs to be viewed on the internet.
All versions of BackStage are entirely compatible and users can upgrade or downgrade with no loss of data or any extra set- up. (See BackStage Overview.)
- An optional PDA or PDA/SmartPhone component for administering key-aspects of this process when away from the office. This runs on PDA's and Smartphones under the Windows Mobile 5 operating system or later. (See Mobile Overview)
- An ever-growing number of automatically generated web pages hosted on our web servers that can display the data entered into BackStage. These can be either password protected and viewed by selected members of the orchestral staff (including the musicians) or else visible to the general public. (See WebPages Overview)
- Google Apps. For orchestras wanting a complete office solution, BackStage provides an optional capability to output it's data into Google Apps, Googles immensely powerful free/low-cost online office. (See Google Apps)
